Cosmetic Dentistry

A smile is one of the first parts of the human body that people see when they meet you! A balanced and aesthetic smile can convey a variety of feelings such as confidence and beauty . Unfortunately, not everyone is born with a beautiful smile, leaving one feeling awkward and self-conscious. This is where cosmetic dentistry can help. Whether it is a subtle correction of a chipped tooth or an extreme makeover, Drs. Kesling and Cotera can design a smile that you have always dreamed of through porcelain veneers, composite bonding, and teeth whitening.

Implants

The key benefit of dental implants over other tooth replacement systems is that an implant connects directly to the jawbone. It’s obviously not the same as the original connection, but functions just the same. When a tooth is lost, bone loss will eventually occur in that region because the root is no longer stimulating and stabilizing the bone. By using titanium (which biochemically joins to bone) to replace the root, you get a bond that more accurately replicates the one found in nature.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain laminate veneers consist of a compilation of several thin ceramic layers which replace original tooth enamel, and an adhesive layer. To apply a veneer, a very small amount of the original tooth enamel must be removed, usually less than a millimeter. This is essential as it creates room for the porcelain veneer to fit within the mouth and most accurately restore natural tooth function while creating an even better appearance than the original tooth. Porcelain Veneers can correct a variety of cosmetic dental problems such as staining, cracked teeth, tooth crowding, tooth gaps, broken teeth, and decayed teeth.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain dental crowns replace the exterior portion of a tooth to re–establish its original function and to create a natural appearance. Crowns are the treatment of choice in situations where tooth decay has destroyed most of the original tooth, when a traumatic event has caused damage, or in cases of severe enamel erosion. They are also an option for people who grind and clench their teeth so much that the original structure of their teeth has been compromised. The great benefit to porcelain crowns is they can not only replicate the original tooth in function, but can be designed to look like the original or even better.  A porcelain crown is thicker than a veneer and, in some situations, this thickness is needed.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and Onlays are recommended when a conventional filling is too large to provide the tooth with the strength and longevity  it requires to function properly. Inlays fill in cavities or depressions while onlays lie on the surface of the tooth, building up damaged cusps and strengthening them.

Tooth Colored Fillings

Do you have old black or silver fillings?  Dentistry has advanced through the years to offer you durable and natural looking fillings with the use of composite resins. These materials offer the feel of natural enamel and durability by bonding directly to the tooth, they will create strong and long lasting restorations. Call us for more information!

Full Mouth Restorations

Sometimes, the entire mouth needs to be restored in full to create a healthy smile. Many of these cases involve teeth that has been neglected for years or dental work that has been patched by numerous dentists that breakdown at different rates. Extensive decay, large silver fillings, and/or periodontal disease may be cause for more comprehensive dental treatment. In these cases, full mouth restoration might be an optimal solution. Drs. Kesling and Cotera will carefully evaluate each patient’s needs to develop a comprehensive dental plan. They will use the best dental materials and techniques to restore a comfortable, functional, and beautiful smile.

Orthodontics and Clear Aligners

The Tip-Edge Orthodontic System that Drs. Kesling and Cotera use, allows for the correction of the most severe over- or under-bites and/or severe crowding using only very light forces ( 1 1/2 to 2 ounces).  Elastics provide the light, continuous forces that are used to correct each patient's bite.  These forces are continuous and there is no need for periodic tightening of the appliances at each appointment.  This eliminates the discomfort experienced by patients after each tightening as seen with other orthodontic techniques.  Treatment times are also much shorter and fewer appointments are required to complete treatment.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of the most common cosmetic treatments requested by patients. Drs. Kesling and Cotera can help patients achieve a whiter smile that looks natural, enhancing their overall facial aesthetic. People with whiter, brighter smiles tend to smile more and feel better about their overall appearance. A simple, minimally invasive cosmetic procedure, teeth whitening can help patients look and feel more youthful.

Non Surgical Periodontal Therapy

In order to offer the best restorative option, we want to assure a good foundation to support your beautiful teeth. The gums and supporting bone must be kept in optimal conditions for your teeth to last a lifetime.  Gum disease is extremely common. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, half of adults age 30 and older suffer from some form of gum disease. Gum disease, an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth, is caused by plaque, the sticky film of bacteria that is constantly forming on our teeth. Plaque that is not removed with thorough daily brushing and cleaning between teeth can eventually harden into calculus or tartar.  Non surgical periodontal therapy or scaling and root planning removes the tartar that is affecting and infecting the periodontal tissues in order to improve its health and maintain the supporting bone.

 Root Canal Therapy
Did you develop a toothache?  You might be in the need for a root canal. Drs. Kesling and Cotera have spent extensive training in root canal therapy during their residencies and in practice to give you the most modern techniques to treat teeth that are in pain or severely broken down. Root Canal Therapy can save teeth that would be otherwise extracted.

Oral Surgery

Severely broken down teeth that are  non-restorable may require extractions. Drs. Kesling and Cotera can perform extractions in a comfortable atmosphere for our patients.

Dental Emergencies
We understand dental emergencies come up sometimes.  We will do our best to solve your dental emergencies in a timely manner; however, our goal is to help you minimize the risk of any dental emergency treatment by providing you with a comprehensive treatment planning.
