Meet the Doctors

                                                                                                DELIA COTERA, DDS

Born in Lima, Peru, Dr. Delia Cotera earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1997 after graduating in the top 15 percent of her class from Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in Lima. She earned a postgraduate diploma in Endodontics from the same university in 1999. In 2002, Dr. Cotera was awarded an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certificate from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. She served as a faculty member in the Restorative Dentistry Department at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Cotera is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Florida Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. She is certified in a number of advanced dental procedures, including traditional and clear orthodontics as well as dental implants.

A gifted clinician, Dr. Cotera is passionate about creating and maintaining beautiful and healthy smiles. She is committed to providing the highest quality of dental care available in a warm and caring ambience. Dr. Cotera enjoys working with children; her gentle approach can ease even the most anxious patient. She is also passionate about giving back to the community. Dr. Cotera has worked with underprivileged children in rural areas from as far away as the Andes, and looks forward to offering dental assistance to disadvantaged people in Sarasota County.

She and her husband moved to Sarasota from the Washington, D.C., area in 2005. They fell in love with Sarasota’s rich cultural offerings (avid cinephiles, they are now fans of the Sarasota Film Festival and Sarasota Film Society) and its lush natural beauty. “We didn’t think twice after spending a few days here. We knew this was home.” Their daughters, Camille and Evangeline, were born in Sarasota in 2008 and 2013 respectively. Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Cotera enjoys traveling to new places, exercising, movies, music and spending time with her family.
